Girl Scouts - Celebrating our 100th Anniversary March 12th - 1912-2012
We want to thank A Mighty Fortress Lutheran Church for sponsoring our Girl Scout troops. We have registered three troops in three grade levels:
The Daisies are in kindergarten or first grade. Their leaders are Audrey Brady and Helena Brown. This fall they will have thirteen registered girls. The girls have learned the promise and are learning the Girl Scout Law, beginning with honest and fair; and helpful and friendly. Our Daisies are excited to have joined Girl Scouts in its 100th year.
Brownie Scouts are second and third graders. Leaders include Mary Lautensleger, Kimberly Brown, and Blanca Teran. Our troop is learning about healthy eating and living habits. We have discussed the Food Guide Pyramid, focusing especially on healthy snacking. The girls have tasted various kinds of nuts, fruits, raw vegetables, and some have even found that they like broccoli dipped in hummus!
The six Juniors are fourth and fifth grade girls, who are working with Robin Moore and Leslie Brigman. We have also registered two parents for the troop committee. The girls have learned to make gum paste/fondant daisy flowers, to decorate a cake for their investiture service and how to make corn husk dolls.
